Should you go?

Rainbow is often called the most beautiful of Florida's first-magnitude springs, and it is certainly the most effortless: $2 entry, gardens and man-made waterfalls from its roadside-attraction era, easy swimming in the headsprings, and a wide, gentle river.

The Rainbow River tube run (from the separate KP Hole county park entrance) is the relaxed alternative to Ichetucknee — wider, warmer-feeling, and far easier to get into on a summer Saturday.

Visiting

Headsprings entry is $2 per person, 8am to sunset — but as of April 2026 the park requires a day-use reservation for ALL visitors, booked through the Florida State Parks reservation system before arrival. Parking is also limited during ongoing renovations. Tubing launches from KP Hole County Park with separate county fees.

Local tips

The headsprings swim area is best before 11am. Paddle upstream first, drift back. The gardens and waterfalls make this the best springs choice for mixed groups where not everyone swims.
