Every guide site tells you it is honest. This page tells you exactly how ours makes money, how the rankings are put together, and where the line between the two sits — so you can judge for yourself.
How this site makes money
Advertising. We display ads served by third-party networks. We choose where ad slots sit on the page; we do not choose which advertisers appear in them, and an ad is never an endorsement.
Affiliate links. Some outbound links — to lodging, tours, shuttles, dive operators, and gear — are affiliate links. If you buy or book through one, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What we do not do. We do not accept payment for a ranking position, a score, a review, or a place on a “best of” list. We do not accept paid guest posts or sponsored links inside editorial content. No park, outfitter, or operator has ever paid to appear here, and none has been given a preview of, or a veto over, what we publish about them.
How we rank springs
Each spring carries a score out of ten. It is our editorial judgement, built from the things that actually decide whether a spring day is good:
- Water quality and clarity — including how reliably clear it stays, since river-fed springs turn tannic for days after heavy rain upstream.
- The experience itself — the size and character of the basin or run, and what you can genuinely do there.
- Facilities — restrooms, changing rooms, parking, shade, picnic areas, rentals, and food.
- Crowding and access — how early it fills, whether it turns people away at the gate, and whether reservations are needed.
- Value — what you get for the entry fee, and whether add-on costs are made clear before you arrive.
- Whether it is worth the drive — the honest question most guides avoid.
A spring is never scored up because it has an affiliate program, and never scored down because it does not. Several of the highest-scoring springs on this site earn us nothing at all.
Where our information comes from
We are direct about this because it matters. Details such as fees, hours, seasonal closures, capacity rules, camping reservation windows, dive certification requirements, and pet policies are compiled from official sources — Florida State Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, county park departments, national wildlife refuges, water management districts, and private operators’ own published information — and then cross-checked against recent visitor reports for the things official pages leave out, such as how early a park actually fills on a July Saturday.
Each spring page shows when its information was last checked. Where we are not confident a figure is current, we say so on the page and flag it for you to confirm rather than presenting a guess as a fact.
Photography
Photographs are used with permission or under open licences such as Creative Commons. Where a photograph comes from Wikimedia Commons or a similar source, the photographer and the licence are credited in the caption on the page where the image appears. We do not present other people’s photographs as our own.
Corrections
Fees rise, gates close, operators change hands, and readers standing at a spring today know before we do. If you find something wrong here, tell us: kyle.eagleconcrete@gmail.com. Corrections get priority over everything else in the inbox, and accuracy is the entire reason this site exists.
Our commitment
Florida Springs Finder publishes what we believe is true and useful. If a commercial relationship ever conflicted with that, the relationship would go, not the verdict. If you think we have got something wrong — a fact or a judgement — we would rather hear it than not.
